Statement by Susanna Liew Sow Yoke, wife of Pastor Raymond Koh

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who has shown support to my family and me over the last three weeks since the abduction of my husband Pastor Raymond Koh on 13 February, in Petaling Jaya. We are so touched by the many expressions of concern and sympathy from Malaysians of all races and religions. The candlelight vigils held on Sunday night, March 5, in so many different cities, have helped bolster our spirits and strength during this ordeal.

On Monday, March 6, my son Jonathan Koh and I met informally with YB Tan Sri Joseph Kurup, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department. YB Tan Sri Joseph expressed his deep concern about my husband’s abduction and sympathy for us, as a family at this private, informal meeting. He asked us to have full confidence in the police and to cooperate with the police for the investigation.

On the same day, we also met with ACP Fadzil Ahmat and the police task force set up to investigate my husband’s abduction. The meeting took place at the Petaling Jaya Police Headquarters (IPD Petaling Jaya). ACP Fadzil and his team briefed me on their investigations to date. I left this meeting feeling more reassured that the police are doing their best to find my husband, even if there are no significant leads yet.  I am assured that the police regard this as priority case, and have dedicated many officers to work with the task force. As this is an active investigation, I ask for the public to please give the police space to conduct their work, without undue speculation or unverified allegations.

Instead, I would like to ask you to include in your prayers, for God’s help and guidance for our police in their investigations, so that truth and justice will prevail quickly.

In this difficult time, I find solace in the solidarity and support Malaysians have given us as a family. May your continued prayers strengthen our resolve to stay true to faith, hope and love, despite the challenges.
